Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Deputy Mayor, Sunita Dangol, has been selected as a Young Global Leader 2025 by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
A total of 116 individuals under the age of 40 from around the world have been selected from diverse fields such as culture, heritage, sports, business, social service, and politics.
Through her Facebook page, Dangol expressed pride in being selected as a Young Global Leader.
“Excited to be recognised as the Young Global Leaders 2025 and honored to join a community of leaders from over 120 nationalities. One out of 11 leaders from South Asia that made it this year, and [I am] the only one from Nepal. Together, we are dedicated to driving transformative change and making a positive impact on our world.”
Winner of Miss Newa 2011, Dangol is also known as a script activist. She and her team had led public workshops to promote and preserve the indigenous Ranjana script, conducting programs in households, neighborhoods, and public spaces of Kathmandu.
“She is a dynamic leader committed to promoting cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and urban innovation. As a dedicated advocate for inclusive governance, she works tirelessly to represent the voices of Kathmandu’s diverse communities,” her profile at the WEF website reads.
