Kami Rita Sherpa, known as the “Everest Man,” has climbed Mt. Everest for the 31st time, breaking his own world record.
The 55-year-old mountaineer reached the summit around 4 AM on 27 May under stable weather conditions, leading the Army Adventure Wing expedition led by Lt. Col. Manoj Joshi. He served as the main guide, ensuring the last members of the team successfully reached the top.
Kami Rita, a son of a Sherpa guide, has become a leading figure in high altitude mountaineering — ever since his first Everest ascent in 1994.
His latest achievement with Seven Summit Treks adds another milestone to his decades-long climbing career, setting an all-time record. The climber with the second highest number of Everest summits to their name is a fellow Sherpa, Pasang Dawa, with 29 ascents.
